History and Traditions

Blue Out Night

In 2004 a new football tradition was born in Highland Park...Blue Out Night! With the vision of band parents Susie and John Roberts, and the blessing of Randy Allen, the Highlander Band Boosters began selling blue t-shirts for fans to wear at one predetermined home football game each year. This tradition has continued, with Blue Out night often being designated as the toughest home game the Scots face in regular competition. Fans, both young and old, have responded to the call to wear blue each year to show support for our football team.

In 2011, the Highlander Band Boosters hosted an "Out of the Blue" Blue Out!  Instead of having a "sea of blue" in the stadium, fans were asked to BE BOLD and WEAR GOLD.

2017 marks thirteen years of Blue Out at Highland Park High School.
